Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Spring Festival 2018

Well the 2018 season started off with pleasant Spring weather when the Boer Goat exhibitors arrived at the marvellous showground of the RWAS at Builth Wells.  What a setting!

The BBGS was very honoured to welcome Mr Engel Kupers as the Boer Goat Judge who was accompanied by his very knowledgeable wife, Nineke. The classes were very strong in quality and numbers and were good ambassador of the breed. Engel Kupers explanation of his placings to the many members of the public who were watching was very well received and also very helpful to the exhibitors.

As always the wonderful staff at the show made us very welcome and the layout of the goat barn and show ring was top class and even included a gazebo in case of inclement weather.  It was lovely to welcome a newcomer to the Boer Goat showing scene in Mel Hughes and to welcome back Lewis Matthews and his very supportive family, Debbie Marshall, Ian Johnson and me, Jo Jenkins. Also, although unable to show this year, it was great to see Mark and Jo Parry once again supporting the Boers and doing a wonderful job as stewards and many thanks to Rob Grinnall for liaising with the RWAS on behalf of the BBGS .

The Spring Festival is a unique Smallholder based show which combines livestock, crafts, food and drink and music. It is an honour to exhibit here and so much to enjoy outside of the ring too

The Stockman’s at Builth Wells is always the place to be in the evening and I must say the Boer Goaters had their dancing boots on! Always great fun and a super way to kick off the 2018 shows.
